MACHINE GUNS
The first machine gun was invented in 1884 by Hiram Maxim, an american inventor who brought to the war a new and really powerful killing machine. The first machine guns needed to be aimed and fired by 4 to 6 soldier, due to its weight of aproximately 30 to 60kg, it was usually positioned on a flat tripod, it could fire around 400-600 small-calibre round per minute.
Along the war, countries improved the model of the first machine gun invented by Maxim, so the did the German, with the invention of the "Maschinengewhr"; by the time war began in August 1914 the Germans had 12,000 of these powerful machine guns and which the number would increse into 100,000 later in war.

During the war the machine gun was improved, one clearly example is a lighter and powerful machine gun wich could be used by a single man, like the deployable browning, a really powerful machine with around 120-130 bullets per minute.
